Sabrina setup Lady Jayne's cakes a few years ago, and provides various sorts of cakes for weddings/parties/corporate events. She usually took the photographs herself, but when she found out I was studying photography, asked me if I wanted to give it a try.
I don't think they turned out too badly, but I was somewhat hampered by a lack of the proper equipment. I only had a piece of card for the backdrop, and the available natural light. Whilst that isn't really an excuse for the quality of the pictures (my lack of experience being the primary issue), I do think I could achieve better results with the resources available at the college.

Hi
ReplyDeleteWhat better place to start, can you investigate advertising photography for this type of cake and confectionery work, I used to do work for Thorntons chocs so will give you some tips. Look at their website and others and put that onto your blog as your research etc...etc....

Hi
ReplyDeleteUse this work to gain experience in this area, however please remember does this lady give her cakes away for free to people?
The answer is no, she sells cakes up to £50 each, you need to be as ruthless as she is at selling cakes with your valuable images.
